How much of an impact Blackshear makes at Nevada depends on his continued skill development, especially shooting the ball. Blackshear has a high floor because he's a good rebounder and above-average defender who averaged 1.5 steals per game last season.
The Mountain West will be a step up - the MW ranked 10th in RPI last season C-USA was 12th -but Blackshear will fit in nicely from a physical standpoint in the league. Born in a family with great basketball bloodlines, Blackshear showed excellent development from his freshman season to his sophomore season at Florida Atlantic, which plays in Conference USA. Blackshear should challenge for a starting role, but even if he comes off the bench he'll get his share of minutes. Likely role: Blackshear is one of three Division I transfers added to Nevada's roster this season, and he fills a position of need as a lengthy wing player with a mature body (coaches have described him as having a linebacker's build on a 6-foot-6 frame).
